Police suspect Lisa Dorrian's body dumped at sea

Detectives investigating the murder of missing Bangor woman Lisa Dorrian have today revealed that they believe her body may have been dumped at sea around six months after her disappearance.

Lisa Dorrian was last seen on February 28, 2005, at a party at Ballyhalbert caravan site in County Down.

Despite extensive land and sea searches, her body has never been found.

Detective Superintendent George Hamilton, who has been leading the investigation in the Lisa Dorrian case, today said that police now believe that her body may have been secreted on land for several months before being taken to sea between late June and early August 2005.

At a news conference in Bangor today, Detective Superintendent Hamilton urged the public to help them find the body of the missing woman.

The Dorrian family also attended the conference and Lisa's younger sister, Joanne, made an emotional appeal for information about her sister.

Police believe that a 17-foot orange-red coloured boat may have been involved in disposing of the body, and police have asked for anyone who may have seen the boat, or have any information on anything suspicious on either land or sea to contact the murder squad on a special number, 028 9056 1880.

This week, two 18-year-olds and a 23-year-old man were arrested in connection to the disappearance, however all three have subsequently been released without charge.
