Children Found In Quarry 'Stabbed To Death'

An inquest has heard that three children found dead in a Shropshire quarry were stabbed to death.

The bodies of Samuel Fuller, 12, and his sisters Rebecca Rose, eight, and Charlotte Mae, seven, were found at Poles Coppice in July 2012.

The children’s father, Ceri Fuller, 35, was also found, having died from injuries to his head and broken bones consistent with a fall from height.

Dr Alexander Kolar, who carried out the post-mortem examinations, told Wem Coroners' Court that two of the children had attempted to defend themselves.

The inquest heard that Samuel and Rebecca had cuts "consistent with defensive type injuries", and that Rebecca and Charlotte were stabbed multiple times while Samuel died from a knife wound to his neck.

The fathers clothing was stained with blood.

Forensic scientist Christopher Mckenzie said a 17cm-long (6.6in) hunting knife found at the scene contained DNA from the three children.

West Mercia Police previously said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
