Appeal For Witnesses Following Suspicious Child Approach In Dartmouth Park
West Midlands Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to a suspicious incident in which a five-year-old girl was approached by a woman in Dartmouth Park.
Police said the incident took place at about 14:45 on Monday, 03 August, in Dartmouth Park, Sandwell Valley. The child was with her mother at the time.
The woman is described as mixed race, aged in her mid-30s, she had black hair in a bun and wore a red T-shirt.
Detective Inspector Ronan Tyrer from Force CID, said: "We are anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened in the park yesterday, we believe there were a number of people about at the time. The child is safe and officers are continuing with their enquiries and checking local CCTV in a bid to identify the woman. Whilst we are keeping an open mind regarding the incident, it is important to stress this is an isolated incident."
Anyone with information is being asked to call the police at Sandwell on 101.

A man being pursued by police has been killed by a train in north-west London. According to the Metropolitan Police a man aged in his 20s was stopped in Christchurch Avenue, Willesden Green at around 16:25 on Tuesday afternoon, believing that he had drugs in his possession.

Firefighters Tackle Blaze In West Midlands
More than 150 firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a plastic recycling factory in the West Midlands. Around 50,000 tonnes of recycling material and a factory unit are on fire at the recycling plant, in Smethwick. West Midlands Fire Service said more than 35 fire engines were sent to the scene.

Elderly Woman Dies After Mugging
A murder investigation is underway after an elderly woman died after a mugging in north-west London. The 81-year-old, who has not yet been named, suffered fatal injuries after the suspect grabbed her handbag. She died from her injuries in Northwick Park Hospital eight hours after the incident.

Stabbed Salford Burglar Was On Bail
It has been confirmed that a burglar stabbed to death during a break-in at a Salford house, was on police bail following a separate suspected burglary. Earlier this month, John Leonard Bennell, 27, from Hyde, was arrested by police.

Man Still Questioned Over Heathrow Alert
Police are continuing to question a man who sparked a major security alert at Heathrow airport on Thursday by running onto a runway. The man was arrested as he ran onto the north runway, carrying a rucksack around 2:30pm on Thursday. Armed police detained him and a controlled explosion was carried out on his bag. However, no explosives were found.
