Two People Charged After Baby Seriously Injured

Two people have been charged after an eight-week-old baby was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A police investigation was launched after the baby girl was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital on 12 January.

She was suffering from serious injuries, including a bleed to the brain.

Jonathan Gerrard, 26, of Woodside Avenue, Preston and Katrina Westworth, 22, of Oban Crescent, Preston, have both been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and child neglect.

They will appear at Preston Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 17 September.

Lancashire Police said the child, now nine months old, was treated at Manchester Children's Hospital but has since been discharged and is making steady progress.

Teenager Dies After Football Match Collapse
A 15-year-old girl has died after collapsing during a football match on Sunday in Lancashire. The teenager collapsed on the pitch around 40 minutes into the game while playing for Cadley FC in Euxton, Chorley on Sunday morning. She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Four Remanded Over Lancashire Park Death
A 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy have been remanded in custody charged with the murder of a father-of-five who was stabbed to death in a Lancashire Park earlier this week. Mohammed Bilal Bhatti, 20, of Holcombe Drive in Burnley and a 16-year-old who cannot be named because of his age, appeared before Burnley Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Two Men Killed After Vehicle Collides With Tree
Two men have been killed after a vehicle crash in Lancashire. The incident happened shortly before 4pm on 29 June. It is understood the car containing three men from Preston came off Lea Lane and collided with a tree. The 25-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger were confirmed dead at the scene.

Murder Inquiry Into Deaths Of Man And Baby
Police in Lancashire have launched a murder inquiry into the death of a man and a baby, but are not looking for other suspects. Preston police said on Thursday that the two were found at around 6.15pm on Wednesday after police were called to an address on Marl Hill Crescent in Ribbleton.

Police Appeal For Preston Man Wanted On Prison Recall
Police are appealing for information to try and find man from Preston who is wanted on prison recall. James Thomas Hallsall, 31, is wanted after breaching the terms of his licence and police would also like to speak with him in connection with a drugs supply offence.
