Young's Seafood catch flooring success with AFS

With years of flooring experience in fishing manufacturing industry, Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS) helped Young's Seafood catch further flooring success with the successful upgrade of their Kilkeel facility.

Young's Seafood is the leading seafood manufacturer in the UK, sourcing over 30 species from 5 continents.

With years of experience in helping fish manufacturers upgrade floor systems, Young's selected AFS once again to help them upgrade their floors in the production areas of their Kilkeel facility.

Unlike other flooring contractors, AFS is able to specify the best flooring system to suit a project's requirements rather than promote one particular product manufacturer. After onsite consultation with the client, AFS recommended a MPM Duroglass P5/4 high build system.

AFS always recommend specialised surface preparation for every project to ensure a successful flooring installation. AFS do not subcontract this vital stage out, but rather use their own in-house specialised surface preparation division. AFS started the project by removing the failed coating system using vacuum diamond grinding on the main floor area and vacuum-assisted hand-held grinders for edges and other small tight areas.

Following preparation, AFS then installed a MC Dur 1365HBF Primer to the prepared substrate. AFS then installed a MPM Duroglass P5/4 high build system, scattered with decor quartz. To complete the project and give the floor additional protection properties, AFS installed a MPM P5/1LV high protection sealer coat.

The new floor system supplied and installed by AFS, gives Young's Seafood a high build and decorative system that is perfectly suited for the fishing industry.

AFS help upgrade historic St Patrick's chapel

Built in 1820, St Patrick's Oram required a specialised surface preparation contractor to help them renovate and upgrade the chapel's historic walls. With a long-standing surface preparation history, the parish turned to Advanced Flooring Systems (AFS).

St Patrick's chapel is an important building and historical landmark in the village of in Oram Co Monaghan. The parish community of Muckno are upgrading the chapel and required a surface preparation expert who could help remove contamination and old paint coatings on the weathered outside walls. With a specialised surface preparation division, the parish turned to AFS.

AFS used their in-house surface preparation division to open shot blast the outside walls, removing all previous paint coatings and cleaning the concrete exterior from other contaminants.

With the age of the building and surrounding graveyard, extreme care was needed for this project. Open shot blasting was deployed by AFS as it is beneficial for open environments - minimising dust and debris - while also protecting sensitive areas from damage which other preparation equipment eg grinders may cause.

Now with the outside walls successfully prepared, new protective paint coatings can be applied to help complete the upgrade for St Patricks.

AFS always recommend specialised surface preparation for every project to ensure a successful flooring installation. We used Advanced Flooring Services at our facility at Carrowteige and we were afforded good/professional advice as to what would best suit our requirements. Adrian & his team replaced some flooring in our wash room whereby the floor is regularly saturated in water with extremes in temperature, the water in turn flows across the floor into a centralized drain. We were provided with a very professional service at all stages of this project & furthermore the job that was done in our washroom is still as good as the day that it went in, based on our experiences I would highly recommend the services of this company. We will definitely be calling on Advanced Flooring Services to advice/quote on any future requirements that arise.

Andrew Glass, Glass Brothers
Glass Brothers were looking for a flooring systems that would help us address the current problems and high expense of maintaining our existing floors. In addition, we had also noticed that large areas of the underlying concrete had not been properly protected as chemicals from our production process had over time eroded parts of the floor. After their initial consultation, Advanced Flooring Systems created a work schedule around our production times and installed a high quality, low maintenance flooring package within budget. Glass Brothers are extremely happy with our new floors as they have helped us to dramatically reduce our maintenance costs while also preventing any new damage to the existing concrete slabs
