HeliPower Ltd was established to ensure continued quality helicopter services from Newtownards and across Northern Ireland. HeliPower Ltd has one Robinson R22, one Robinson R44, a Bell 206L3 Longranger and a Bell 206 Jetranger when required. HeliPower pilots have experience operating throughout the UK and Europe on various types of helicopters including As350/H125 (all variants), B206 Jetranger and Longranger and Cabri G2.

HeliPower has modern premises, which includes briefing rooms for our students along with a large conference room available for hire. The association with Northumbria Helicopters gives access to a fleet of helicopters and pilots throughout the UK and Ireland.

HeliPower is continuously growing and seeks to further develop its client base and market share in the aviation industry by breaking further into the UK and Irish markets. Public transport flights operate under Northumbria Helicopters AOCGB2257 and training is conducted under JRF Aviations' approval OCP2280.

Sightseeing Heli Tours
Sightseeing tours are a great way to see some of Northern Irelands more popular and famous landmarks. Flights operate from our base at Newtownards airport and from Kilkeel, Portadown and Ballymena on selected weekends.

Trial Lessons
Who hasn’t had the childhood dream of flying a helicopter…at HeliPower we can make that dream come true! Take the controls of a helicopter with one of our experienced and enthusiastic instructors and experience the thrill of helicopter flying.

On the day of the flight the recipient will meet the instructor and receive a short briefing on the controls and how the helicopter flies. Then it's time to walk out and takeoff over the beautiful Co. Down scenery. Once at a safe height the student can take control and fly the helicopter. After returning to the airfield the student can try hovering...the hardest and most addictive part of flying a helicopter. The instructor can also demonstrate some advanced low level maneuvers.

The student can fly as much or as little as they are comfortable with. For the longer duration of flights, students can decide where the helicopter flies, just ask on the day. Friends and family can come along and watch from the viewing area and enjoy a coffee in Cloud 9 cafe while you fly.

Pilot Training
HeliPower can provide training for any student wishing to obtain their pilots licence. We would encourage you to visit us and discuss the various options to obtain your Pilots Licence Helicopters PPL(H). With a flight examiner as our head of training we are well equipped to provide quality training for your licence. All our staff are readily available to help you every step of the way!

Our convenient location in Newtownards, just 20 minutes from the centre of Belfast, combined with having the only full time and most experienced instructor in Northern Ireland makes HeliPower the natural choice for pilot training. The PPL(H) course follows a specific syllabus dictated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) but your training can be tailored to your personal ability, timetable and budget. No previous flying experience is required and training can begin at 14, solo achieved at 16 and licence issued at 17. There is no upper age limit just the requirement to keep passing your medical with an Aviation Medical Examiner. The CAA requires a minimum of 45 hours of training of which 10 hours must be solo flying however realistically you should budget for 50-60 hours to achieve you PPL(H).

One you have you licence you can rent helicopters from us and take your friends and family to a local hotel or restaurant for lunch!

Charter Flights

When chartering with HeliPower you will have your own concierge to look after your every need and tailor the package to suit you.
