Police Van Death Probe
An investigation has launched into the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a marked police van.
Kenneth Thiel-Furber, 26, of Whitchurch died in the early hours of Saturday. He was hit by a Vauxhall Vivaro van on the A41 by the Wrexham Road roundabout.
He was confirmed dead at the scene.
Police are carrying out an investigation into the circumstances and are preparing a report for the Mid and North Shropshire Coroner John Ellery.
A post mortem is due to be conducted on Thursday and an inquest is likely to be opened early next week.
The two officers in the police van were uninjured.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been informed.
Any witnesses are asked to call Whitchurch police station on 08457 444 888.
This is not the first time this year that a civilian has been killed by such an official vehicle.
In April a woman died from her injuries after being hit by a prison van in Brixton.

Money stolen in Securitas van raid
Police have launched an investigation after a Securitas van was robbed by a gang in Cheshire last night. The robbery happened in the Woolston area of Warrington on Wednesday night around 8:15pm. A Securitas security van, on route to a delivery, had been travelling behind a Volvo flatbed truck.

A police van transporting a suspect has collided with a car in Sheffield, injuring seven people. South Yorkshire Police say the incident, which happened on Abbeydale Road at about 23:30 on Sunday, involved a police van and a red Peugeot 207.

A woman was killed this morning in an accident involving a London bus while a separate investigation has been launched into the death of a GCSE student who has been knocked down by a police patrol car in Newcastle. The first fatal incident occurred last night as the Northumbria Police marked car was believed to be hunting for a stolen vehicle.

Woman Killed In Prison Van Collision
A woman has died from her injuries after being hit by a prison vehicle. The victim is said to have blocked the path of the Serco security van and goaded the driver seconds before the incident in Brixton. The driver was initially arrested and questioned by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Three Killed In Hatton Cross Crash
Three people have been killed in a crash close to a west London Underground station. The crash, involving a van and a car, occured on the A30 Great South West Road, near Hatton Cross Tube station. Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene around 7am. The van collided with a car trying to make a turn in the road.
