Teeth Found In Jersey Home Search
Detectives involved in one of the biggest abuse inquiries in the UK have discovered bone fragments and teeth in an underground chamber in a former Jersey children's home.
Police investigating the Haut de la Garenne home have found five teeth and fragments of bone, thought to be from a child aged four or five.
A Jersey Police spokeswoman said: "There have now been a total of five teeth found. These items have been sent for further examination in the UK.
"We are not expecting any update on these results before the beginning of next week."
During the 18-month investigation - with more than 100 people claiming they were abused at the home - two people have been arrested. Police have revealed there are more than 40 suspects.
Claude Donnelly, 68, of St Brelade, appeared before St Helier magistrates on charges of raping a 12-year-old girl between 1971 and 1974 on the Channel Island.
The case was adjourned until May 28.
Gordon Claude Wateridge, who worked as a warden at the home - was the first person to be charged in connection with the abuse allegations.
Mr Wateridge was charged with indecently assaulting three girls under the age of 16. His arrest is said to be unconnected with the unearthing of a child's skull at the site in February or the most recent discoveries.
The 76-year-old - originally from Croydon - appeared in court on Monday in relation to the charges. He will appear before court again on 9 June and 7 July.
The home opened in June 1867 as the Jersey Industrial School for "young people of the lower classes of society and neglected children".
It became Haut de la Garenne in 1960 and closed in 1986.

Man And Woman Arrested In Jersey Case
A man and woman have been arrested in Jersey by detectives involved in the Historical Abuse Enquiry. The Jersey police have said that a 70-year-old man and a 69-year-old man are currently in custody "in connection with a number of alleged grave and criminal assaults on children within the Jersey Care system in the 1960's and 1970's".
