Jobs Boost For Clare & Donegal
Two different companies in Clare and Donegal have announced a total of 170 new jobs.
Some 90 new jobs will be created over the next three years in Lissycasey at the Clare Spring Water company, while a further 80 jobs will be opened by air transport communications and IT company SITA in Letterkenny in Co Donegal.
Tánaiste Mary Coughlan opened SITA's new premises at the Windy Hall Office Park this morning.
Minister Coughlan said the company is offering high value employment to the people of the North-West.
Meanwhile, in Co Clare this afternoon, the Taoiseach will open Clare Spring Water's new bottling facility.
The company is investing over €4m in the development of what it claims is the country's first biodegradable and compostable plastic bottle.
However, despite the new jobs, bad news has again hit the languishing construction sector as it emerges that Ireland's construction output will decline by a cumulative 53% in the three years through 2011.
According to a report issued today by DKM Economic Consultants, the oversupply of homes "over and above what is considered as the normal level of vacant units is estimated at 136,000 units on average".
"This is equivalent to around four years of current housing demand," said the report.
The value of construction output will decline 38% to €19.9 billion ($29.1 billion) this year and by the end of 2011 construction output volumes will return to mid-1990s levels, when Ireland's decade-long housing boom started, today's report said.

Tricel Announce 100 New Jobs
Killarney-based manufacturing and engineering group Tricel has announced it is to create 100 new jobs. 40 of the posts are to be situated at the firm's headquarters in Killarney. The 40 new jobs in the Killarney HQ will be worth an extra €2.4m to the local economy.
