Body Discovered In Enniskillen
The police have revealed that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a woman's body in Co Fermanagh.
A PSNI statement said that the discovery, at a house on the Sligo Road, Enniskillen, was made by a neighbour shortly before 8pm on Tuesday. As a result, a search operation is now underway for a missing man, believed to be the woman's husband.
A PSNI spokesperson said the man and woman were believed to be both in their 80s.
The Sinn Féin MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone Michelle Gildernew has expressed her sympathy to the family of a woman found dead in Enniskillen last night.
Speaking today Ms Gildernew said: "My thoughts at this time are very much with the family of the lady, who will no doubt be under a great deal of trauma and stress.
"Things are still at a very early stage and our understanding is that the PSNI are searching for this woman's husband.
"This is a well known and respected family in the area and my heart goes out to them at this very difficult time," she concluded.
Meanwhile, a man has been charged with murdering his elderly father in Co Armagh earlier this month.
In an unconnected incident to the latest tragedy, the body of 75-year-old Michael McGleenon was found at his home in Mansefield, off the Old Portadown Road in Lurgan on 12th November.
The pensioner's 35-year-old son, who also called Michael, was arrested at the scene of the murder.
He is expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates Court later.
