First Woman Completes Plant Qualification

A Co Down woman has become the first female to complete the NVQ Plant Qualification.

Lesley Cunningham from Cunningham Services Ltd, a roadwork's contractor based in Hillsborough, completed the course at the ITS Training Centre in Portadown.

Ms Cunningham said: "I thoroughly enjoyed the NVQ assessment process at ITS, the staff are all so welcoming and helpful and I would like to especially thank Sam and Andy my assessors, for all their professional assistance in achieving my NVQ in the 360 Excavator above and below 5t."

A company spokesperson said: "We recognise that Health and Safety training is paramount within today’s challenging Construction Industry and we believe achievements such as Lesley's creates a safer working environment for our staff and the public and adds Quality to our Company’s profile in attaining and maintaining Contracts."

Company Director, Jimmy Cunningham added: "It is great to see women in the construction industry seeking Plant and Machinery qualifications and I would encourage many more women to give it a go."
