Motorist accused of road rage stabbing freed on bail
A motorist accused of being involved in a stabbing incident in Londonderry has been released on bail.
Gerald Cox, 52, from Barrs Lane, appeared before Londonderry Magistrate's court last week on charges, which he denied, of causing grievous bodily harm to a lorry driver in the Waterside area.
The charge relates to an incident on Thursday January 31, when a man was stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle during a dispute between Mr Cox and another man.
Belfast High Court was told on Monday February 4 that the lorry driver's injuries were so serious police had not yet been able to interview him.
A prosecution lawyer described the incident as a "very bad example of what is commonly called road rage."
Meanwhile a man has died following a road traffic collision between a car and a lorry. He died early on Monday February 4 on the main Belfast to Dublin road, near Newry. The roundabout at Forkhill was closed for several hours. (AMcE)
