Nissan Sales Up
Nissan in Europe has reported sales of 35,502 units in February, representing an increase of 4% year on year with a Market Share of 2.9% on a flat TIV versus February 2009.
In general, Western European TIV’s were higher than last year where scrap incentives were still having an affect, but Eastern Europe continues to be lower. The exception is Germany where the scrap affect is at an end and TIV was 29% lower than previous year.
Bernard Loire, Vice President Sales Operations, said: "Nissan in Europe’s market share in February was healthy at 2.9% and customer demand for our core models continues to be strong. We have healthy order banks going into the important month of March."
Nissan employs around 12,500 people in its European design, research and development, manufacturing, logistics, and sales and marketing operations.
In calendar year 2009, the company sold 498,027vehicles across 40 markets in Western and Eastern Europe including Russia. Furthermore, the company produced a total of 390,727 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants.

Nissan Names Retailer Of The Year
The cream of Nissan retailing have been recognised in Geneva. After being shown the stars of the Nissan motor show stand, Juke, Micra & Leaf, the top performers were handed awards celebrating excellence in 10 categories (winners listed below). Picking up the top prize for Overall Retailer of the Year was J S Holmes Ltd.

Škoda Sales 'Defy Recession'
ŠkodaAuto defied the market downturn by increasing its overall worldwide sales last year, bettering its previous sales record. In total, Škoda sold 684,226 cars in 2009, up 1.4% on the previous year. Western Europe continues to be Škoda's strongest market, with both sales and market shares increased throughout the continent.

Nissan Sunderland Plant's Third Shift
Nissan is to launch a temporary third production shift at its manufacturing plant in Sunderland in response to continuing high demand for the award-winning Qashqai. Throughout 2009 the plant has been working hard to satisfy orders on two shifts, but sales of the popular crossover have now reached levels where demand is out-stripping supply.
