Elderly woman robbed at her home in County Londonderry

A woman in her 70s has been robbed after a man tricked his way into her home in County Londonderry.

The pensioner had several hundred pounds stolen by the man at her home at Glenone Road in Clady, on Tuesday January 22.

Police said she let him in after he told her there had been a robbery at the house.

Local people said there had been several similar robberies in the Clady area in the past year.

Police have warned people to be on their guard against unexpected callers.

They have also appealed to anyone with information about the latest robbery to contact detectives at Magherafelt police station.

Meanwhile two men were taken to hospital after being shot on Wednesday 23rd January.

Both shooting incidents were at around 7pm. One took place in Cresslough Park in the Lenadoon area, where a 19-year-old man was shot in both ankles and his right elbow.

A second man (29) was shot in the right buttock, after being pulled into a car as he walked along the Grosvenor Road. He was then driven to the Blackstaff Complex on the Springfield Road where the shooting took place. (AMcE)
