HR Jobs Expansion Welcomed To Belfast

There's good news this week on additional recruitment jobs being created in Belfast.

Stormont Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has just announced an expansion by Mercer, one of the world's largest Human Resources (HR) consulting firms, which will create 45 new high quality jobs.

Mercer Ltd designs and manages pensions for a range of companies - it focuses on retirement, risk and finance - and currently employs 55 people at its Clarendon House base at Clarendon Road, Belfast.

Now, Invest Northern Ireland has offered £450,000 of support to secure the expansion, which will double its existing presence in Belfast and generate additional annual salaries of over £1m.

Mercer's Retirement Service Centre in Belfast currently provides back-office actuarial services for its UK business. The expansion will see it expand its services to support Mercer's customers in mainland Europe.

Arlene Foster (pictured here) said: "This is a high quality investment by one of the world's leading HR consultancies.

"Invest NI support has secured 45 new posts which will generate salaries well above the NI average and enable this specialist facility to broaden its services into key European markets.

"This is an extremely important investment as it will allow Northern Ireland to demonstrate once again its diverse and talented workforce, and its close proximity to Europe which benefits so many international companies," she said, on Monday.

Gregor Law, Head of Mercer's Retirement Service Centre in Belfast, said: "Our network of retirement service centres around the world continues to provide an efficient actuarial service to a growing client base.

"In seeking a location from which to develop the European marketplace, Belfast stood out for us given our existing experience of this region, the strongly skilled people and the support offered by Invest NI."
