DEL appeal for Further Education college governors
The Department for Employment and Learning has issued a call to members of the business community and professions to apply for appointment as governors of Colleges of Further Education in Northern Ireland.
A spokesperson for the Department said: “There is a real opportunity for business people in Northern Ireland to contribute to their local communities, help improve people’s skills and support local industry. A governor of a Further Education College has an important role to play and I would ask those in business and the professions to consider seriously taking up the challenge. Governors help their colleges to address the skills needs of business and industry both locally and regionally. Further Education Colleges provide an extensive range of educational and training opportunities. Supporting the economy, widening access and raising standards are the key priorities of the sector.”
Information packs are available from colleges, or visit the Department for Employment and Learning website at www.delni.gov.uk. The closing date for applications is 14 December 2001. (CD)
