Speaking at the event Mr Adams refuted claims there had been a drop in support for Sinn Fein since the attacks and the subsequent war on terror: "Those who support us know the difference between what's been happening in Ireland and what happened in this city on 11 September."
Accompanying Mr Adams, were newly elected MPs Michelle Gildernew of Fermanagh-South Tyrone and Pat Doherty, of West Tyrone, who will travel north of the USA border to launch a Canadian branch of Friends of Sinn Fein.
