Easyjet record stable passenger statistics

Budget airline Easyjet has revealed that passenger numbers fell by just three per cent last month, despite the downturn in the airline industry following the terror attacks in the United States.

However, the level of business during that month was much higher than a year ago.

The airline said it carried 680,383 passengers in September, compared to 534,913 passengers during the same month a year earlier.

The airline said it carried a total of 7.12 million passengers in the year to September.

The figures follow Easyjet’s proposal to run the Belfast to London route, which is being abandoned by British Airways on October 27.

British Airways announced its intention to pull out of the six-flights-a-day service from Belfast International Airport to London Heathrow as part of a cost-cutting exercise in the wake of a worldwide cutback in carriers’ services. (MB)
