Indie Week Ireland Lands In Dublin & Belfast

Indie Week, Canada's fastest growing indie music festival, has come to Ireland in search of the best of independent Irish music.

During the event, music industry representatives from Ireland and Canada will choose from the showcasing acts on each night, with those coming out on top being flown to Toronto for Indie Week Canada in October.

Indie Week's organisers say Canada and Ireland's music scenes are complimentary, and that has allowed Indie Week to develop a successful "exchange program" for Irish and Canadian bands, with a number of Irish acts being discovered by management at Indie Week Canada, since 2007.

The events are taking place in both Dublin and Belfast this week, and feature a number of exciting artists at each gig.

On Wednesday night, the showcase is in Dublin, where Sixteen Layers from Dublin join The Suburbians form Chelmsford, England and Navan's The Whatmans in the Sweeney’s Mongrel venue.

A total of 10 artists will be appearing both upstairs and downstairs in the venue that night, so check here for the full line up.

On Thursday, Indie Week hits Belfast's Auntie Annies, where those in NI will be able to catch Toronto's These Electric Lives playing along side local favourites The Beat Poets and North Coast punks and Axis Of (pictured), before the event heads back to Dublin for the last of the heats on Friday.

The final deciding night then takes place on Saturday night, again in Dublin where the showcase winner of each night battle it out before These Electric Lives and Dublin's The Dirty 9s finish off proceedings.
