Police Action Praised After Shots Fired

Alliance East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson has commended the police after they arrested two men following reports of shots being fired in the Castlemara Estate in Carrickfergus on Thursday afternoon.

The police found a firearm and ammunition during searches.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: "I would like to take this opportunity to praise the excellent work of the Police in responding to this report of gun fire. They continue to serve on behalf of the whole our society, often in dangerous circumstances.

"The Police work hard for community safety and everybody should support the magnificent job they do. If anybody has any information about this incident then they must contact the police."

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police Investigating Reports Of Shots Fired In L'Derry
Police in L'Derry have issued an appeal for information following a suspected shooting incident. Shots were reportedly fired in the Sevenoaks area of the city at about 9:40pm. There are no reports of any injuries. Anyone with information about the incident, or who may have witnesses anything suspicious in the area, is asked to contact police.

Calls For Translink Not To Drift Into Deficit
Alliance Regional Development spokesperson Stewart Dickson MLA has called on the Department for Regional Development to not let Translink drift into deficit. Translink is expected to make a £2 million profit this year but a £22 million deficit over the two years after that.

Police Appeal After 'Shot Fired' In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after reports of a shot being fired in north Belfast. No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident in the Farringdon Court area on Thursday. Police are keen to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
