Dog Owners Pay Up For Offences
A man has been fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 compensation after his dog attacked and injured a woman.
Stephen Thompson, from Dunraven Park in east Belfast, was also ordered to pay costs of £66 in relation to the incident, which happened on the Beersbridge Road on December 25, 2010.
Three other dog owners were also fined in court.
Claire Dunn, from Clara Road in east Belfast, was fined £150 and ordered to pay costs of £66 for allowing her dog to stray on the Upper Newtownards Road on July 14, 2011.
William Campbell, from Canning Place in north Belfast, was fined £40 and ordered to pay costs of £66 for failing to have a licence for his dog.
Paul McMorran, from Cliftonville Road in north Belfast, was fined a total of £135 and ordered to pay costs of £66 for allowing his dog to foul at Waterworks Park, and for failing to have a licence for his pet.

PSNI Reveals Figures On Mass Speeding Operation
New figures from the PSNI show the number of drivers caught speeding in one day in Northern Ireland as part of a major operation. Police carried out vehicle check points, speed checks and proactively patrolling as part of a Service Wide proactive Roads Policing Operation focusing on speeding (OP Lifesaver) and pedestrian safety (Op Safer steps).

Man Arrested After Andersonstown Road Crash
The PSNI have arrested a man in his 40s after a single vehicle crash in west Belfast. The collision happened on the Andersonstown Road at around 9.40pm on Thursday evening, 18 January. Police said the man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and was subsequently released on bail.

MLA's call for new firefighters pay scheme
Two UUP MLA's have called on the Northern Ireland Executive to implement a new pay scheme for Ulster's firefighters. North Antrim UUP MLA the Rev Robert Coulter called for the introduction of a new pay formula in a motion to the Assembly on Monday. Mr Coulter said he hoped it would help achieve a real remedy to the question of firefighter’s pay.
