Pipe bomb attack leaves father and daughter in shock

A man and his 12-year-old daughter suffered from shock after a pipe bomb attack on their home in north Belfast.

The police have said they believe the attack on the Catholic family on Tuesday August 13 was sectarian.

The device, which was thrown at the front of the house while the father and daughter were sitting in the living room, exploded in the garden of the house in Ingledale Park on the Crumlin Road and smashed windows in the house.

Two men were seen running away from the area after the attack in the direction of Forthriver.

Police have appealed to anyone with any information about the attack to contact them.

Meanwhile police are looking for help in identifying the body of a man found on the Lower Gilnahirk Road in Dundonald around midnight on Wednesday night.

A police spokesman described the man found as around 5`10" and of stocky build. He had grey hair and beard and was wearing a navy fleece and trousers.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the RUC. (AMcE)
