Man In Court Over Strickland Murder

A man is due to appear in court today charged in connection with the murder of another man shot in County Down last week.

The 44-year-old has been charged with assisting offenders.

Thirty- six-year-old Philip Strickland was found in a car on Quarry Road, off the Ballydrain Road, near Comber on Wednesday last. He had been shot several times and was declared dead in hospital a short time later.

Police are investigating whether the killing is connected to a criminal feud. Mr Strickland, who was from Comber, but lived in East Belfast, was known to the police.

Five men and a woman have been arrested so far. A man and a woman, both aged 19, were arrested on Thursday night. Earlier, a 54-year old man and his two sons aged, 26 and 25, were arrested.

Lurgan Street Lighting To Be Upgraded
