Phoenix To Reduce Gas Prices

A natural gas supplier has pledged to reduce its prices in Northern Ireland helping out households and small businesses with their utility bills.

Phoenix Natural Gas has said that it plans to reduce it prices by 8.5% beginning in April and attributed the fall in price to a reduction in the cost of wholesale gas.

The gas supplier said that it expects that the changes will see the average yearly cost of domestic gas bills drop by £51 to £550.

David Strahan, Managing Director of Phoenix Supply, said: "We are delighted to be able to make this announcement today which again demonstrates our commitment to delivering natural gas at the lowest sustainable price to our customers."

After taking this decrease into account, natural gas prices in Northern Ireland will be around 6% lower than the average standard tariff of the major suppliers in Great Britain and 10% below the standard regulated tariff in the Republic of Ireland.
