HEAD OF BALTIMORE TECHNOLOGIES RESIGNS

FRAN Rooney, has announced his resignation from the post of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Baltimore Technologies.

As founder of the Irish Internet security firm, which has been struggling recently as a result of poor trading figures and falling share prices, Mr Rooney said he had decided to resign in order to pursue other interests outside the company.

Chief Financial Officer Paul Sanders will now act as interim Chief Executive but will also continue to retain his own responsibilities. The Company are to commence their search for a new CEO straightaway.

Only last week, Baltimore said it would be cutting a significant number of jobs. In May, the group also said it was extensively reviewing its operations and the way it marketed its products because of the "changing economic climate".

Baltimore Technologies develops and markets security products and services to enable companies to develop trusted, secure systems for e-business, the Internet and mobile commerce. (MB)

Over two hundred jobs axed at Baltimore Technologies
Dublin based Internet security firm Baltimore Technologies has announced that over 200 jobs will be axed in light of its troubling half-year results. Announcing the results for 2001 on Wednesday, the company said total revenues were £39.4 million sterling, with losses before interest tax depreciation, amortisation and exceptional items of £41.
