Men Arrested For 1998 Murder

Two suspects are being questioned at a Belfast police station in connection with a murder 14 years ago.

The men, aged 50 and 51, were arrested after the Republic of Ireland’s police force renewed their investigation in the murder.

Thomas Lockard, 34, from Belfast’s Malone Road, disappeared from his home on April 25 1998.

His body was found two days later at a roadside at Raskeagh near Dundalk.

It is believed Mr Lockard was stabbed to death after being bound and tortured.

Detectives from An Garda Siochana are helping the Police Service of Northern Ireland question the suspects.
