Derry woman bitten during robbery

A 20-year-old woman has been bitten on the arm during a robbery at a grocery store in the Waterside area of Londonderry.

At around 4.30pm yesterday, a man in his mid-20s entered a shop on the Spencer Road with an accomplice and demanded money.

As the robber took money from the till, the woman grabbed his arm and tried to stop him from leaving the shop. A struggle ensued and she was bitten before the robber made off.

Police say the woman, who was treated in hospital, has been left "extremely shocked" and "frightened" by the attack.

A 40-year-old Londonderry man has been arrested and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
