Pensioner Dragged From Van

A pensioner was dragged from his van in a Londonderry troublespot last night.

The 76-year-old was visiting a house in the Iniscairn Road area at about 9.30pm yesterday when three masked men pulled him from the driver’s seat and ordered a female passenger out.

The men drove the van away and set it on fire.

Sinn Fein councilor Kevin Campbell has condemned the incident as an "absolute disgrace", saying it was a ploy to lure the PSNI in to the area.

Teenager Beaten In Armed Robbery

A 16-year-old boy has been left in a critical condition after a beating during an armed robbery in Magherafelt.

Two masked man with a firearm entered a bungalow at Mayogall Road in Knockcloghrim last night.

The boy’s grandmother, 70, and uncle, 44, were also attacked.

Police have asked anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at about 8.45pm yesterday to contact them.

Northern Ireland’s Lost Wallaby?

A creature on the loose in Dungannon has attracted a lot of attention.

It is believed to be a wallaby – a creature more likely to be found in the warmer climes of Australia.

Sinn Fein councillor Phelim Gildernew said somebody must have lost it or left it in the field it now occupies.

He said: "It didn't just come from Australia on its own."

Police in County Down have appealed for information following an armed robbery yesterday evening. The incident happened at around 11.50am, when a delivery was being made to an off-license in the Bryansburn Road area of Bangor.

A van has been destroyed in a pipe bomb attack in Co Londonderry early this morning. The explosion, which occurred at Hazeldene Avenue in Magherafelt at around 4.20am, caused minor damage to the front part of the vehicle.

Post Office Van Driver Hijacked In West Belfast
A post office van driver has been hijacked and threatened with a knife in west Belfast. The vehicle was stolen in Ross Road on Tuesday which was later found abandoned in the Valleyside Close area. A security alert was launched and the part of the Springfield Road was closed on Wednesday, however it has since been re-opened.

Young Girl Approached In L'Derry
Police are appealing for information after a young girl was approached by men in a van in L'Derry. The incident happened in the Creggan area at around 4.15pm on Wednesday. The nine-year-old girl was walking in the Creggan area when a white van pulled up beside her. One of the three men asked her to get in, however the girl refused and ran home.
