Teen in court over theft of priest's car
A 17-year-old youth was in Belfast Magistrates Court today to face charges in relation to an incident in which a priest was assaulted and has his car stolen from his west Belfast home.
Vincent Dunn (17), from Glenalina Road, west Belfast, was charged with driving Fr Aidan Denny's car after it was taken from his home at New Barnsley Green in Ballymurphy last Thursday.
The 71-year-old priest was attacked after a youth asked to speak to the priest in confidence at his parochial home. Fr Denny was then assaulted, suffering a broken nose and an eye injury.
However, the court was told that Dunn was not thought to be involved in the assault.
Dunn, who has denied the charges, was remanded in custody until March 26.
