Girl Dies After Swimming At North Coast
A young girl from Lurgan has died after falling into the sea at Portballintrae on the north Antrim coast.
The coastguard pulled her from the sea at Runkerry beach yesterday afternoon, after she got into difficulties in the water at Bushfoot Strand.
Paramedics treated her at the scene in an attempt to save her life and brought her to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, but she died last night.
Local councillor David Harding said he would look into signposting the "dangerous" beach.
'Water Board' Bogus Call Cons Elderly Woman
An elderly woman has been robbed of cash after two men conned their way into her house.
The woman let them into her home on Colinview Street in west Belfast when they claimed to be from the Water Board.
One of the men made his way upstairs and ransacked several rooms as well as stealing money.
The woman, who is in her seventies, was not injured in the incident, which happened at 2pm on Saturday.
Police have appealed for information.
Street Drinkers Fined
A number of men have been fined for on street drinking, in prosecutions brought by Belfast City Council.
Thomas Ramsey, of Cu Chulainn House in Victoria Parade, was fined £60 for each of three offences, committed in the Fountain Lane and Castle Arcade areas of the city centre at the end of April this year. He also was ordered to pay £50 in costs.
Paul Collins, whose address was given as c/o the Morning Star Hostel in Divis Street, was also fined £60, and ordered to pay £50 in costs, for breaching the Council’s no-drinking bye-laws in College Street on March 21 past.
Peter Hutchinson, whose address also was given as the Morning Star Hostel, was fined £40 for the same offence in the same place on the same day. He was ordered to pay £66 in costs.

Street Drinkers Pay The Cost
Five people have been fined at Belfast Magistrates Court for drinking alcohol in public. Tyrone McCann, from Richmond Avenue in Newtownabbey, was fined £50 and ordered to pay costs of £66 after he was detected drinking alcohol at Suffolk Road in west Belfast on January 16.

Police Investigate Potential Link Between Ards And Killyleagh Burglaries
Detectives are investigating two recent burglaries that took place in Newtownards and Killyleagh on Tuesday evening, 22nd April, and are exploring the possibility that they are linked. A PSNI spokesperson stated that the first report was received at approximately 10:40 pm concerning a burglary in the South Street area of Newtownards.

Work Starts On Road Improvement Projects In Co Armagh
Contractors have started work on £170,000 road improvement projects in Tandragee, Co Armagh. The schemes are taking place at Irish Street Richhill and Gilford Street. They involve the resurfacing of 1km of roads and where appropriate the reinstatement of footways and verges. To facilitate the schemes, temporary road closures will be in place.

Man Arrested Following Arson Attacks In South Belfast
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a number of arson attacks in south Belfast. Two cars were set on fire in the Joy Street area and another vehicle was set alight in Friendly Street in the early hours of Friday morning, 09 September.
