Lorry Driver Pleads Not Guilty To The Death Of A Cyclist

A lorry driver has pleaded not guilty in connection with the death of a cyclist by careless driving.

James Jeffers Thompson from Tandragee denied causing the death of Michael Caulfield which happened on the Ormeau Road on 15th April last year.

The 56-year-old was killed when his bicycle was involved in a collision with a lorry which Mr Thompson was driving.

Lawyers for the prosecution and defence said there were a few issues to be looked into before a trial could begin.

Mr Thompson has been released on bail until a fixed date for the trial can be given.

Man Extradited From Poland To Stand Trial In NI
A 41-year-old man has been extradited from Poland to Northern Ireland to stand trial for a number of offences, including the cultivation of cannabis. According to the PSNI, the man is accused of committing a number of offences in the Maghera, Coleraine and Kilrea areas in October 2019.
