Major Blaze At Former Military Base

A fire at the former Clooney military base in Londonderry is believed to have been started deliberately.

Four fire engines and an aerial appliance attended the site in the Limavady road area just after 8pm on Sunday night.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Upgrade For Newry Town Centre
Newry town centre is to benefit from a £1.8million public realm scheme. Social Security Agency Financial Social Development Minister, Alex Attwood, made the announcement. Attwood commented: "This investment is good news for the people of Newry and the many residents and visitors who will come to the City in future years.

Belfast Army Base Re-Development Begins
Plans to build hundreds of homes on the Girdwood former military base have been announced. The Minister for Social Development, Alex Attwood, unveiled plans for 200 homes on the site beside the Crumlin Road gaol in north Belfast.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Family escape injury in petrol bomb attack
A family have escaped injury after their home was attacked with petrol bombs in Londonderry last night. Two devices were thrown at the family's home in the loyalist Fountain Estate at around 7.35pm. It is believed the devices were thrown from the nearby Bishop Street area.
