McCausland Exclusion Order Fails

Following accusations that he broke the ministerial code, an exclusion motion against Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has failed in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The SDLP and Sinn Fein wanted to ban McCausland from office for three months.

The parties said the minister failed to condemn loyalist bands who breached Parades Commission rulings in north Belfast last month.

The Ulster Unionist party voted with the DUP against the motion.

Man From Craigavon Charged With Terrorism

A 35 year old Craigavon man has appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court under charges of terrorism.

Ciaran Martin Collins from Drumbeg, Tullgally, was charged with having a semi-automatic pistol, as well as with owning a car officials suspect was intended for use in terroristic activity.

He was arrested on Thursday night following a police operation in Lurgan.

No application for bail has been made, and Mr Collins has been remanded in custody.

He is due to appear in court again next month.

Teen Arrested Over Illegal Fireworks

A 16-year-old has been arrested in Derry on suspicion of possession of prohibited fireworks and throwing a firework.

He was detained in the Magazine Street area of the city on Saturday.

Police also recovered around 200 illegal fireworks.

The teenager has since been released on bail pending a report to the public prosecution service.

Fourteen Sentenced In East Belfast UVF Investigation
The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of thirteen men and one woman in connection with an investigation into suspected criminality linked to the East Belfast UVF by the Paramilitary Crime Task Force. The defendants were sentenced over the five-week period, from 11 January to 16 February, at Belfast Crown Court.

Man Arrested In Connection With L'Derry Drug Seizure
Cannabis worth an estimated £42,000 has been seized and a 59-year-old man arrested in an operation in L'Derry. The 3kg of herbal cannabis was intercepted in the postal system on Tuesday, 02 April.

Two Arrested In Connection With West Belfast Stabbing
A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a serious stabbing incident in west Belfast in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, 10 April. Just after 2.45am, police received a report from our colleagues in northern Ireland Ambulance Service that a man had been stabbed in the St Bernadette's Avenue area.

Three Arrested In Connection With East Belfast Burglary
Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with an attempted burglary in east Belfast on Monday, 11 March. PSNI officers responded to a report of an attempted break in and criminal damage at a property in the Upper Newtownards Road area.
