999 Number Out Of Order

The PSNI has confirmed reports that the 999 emergency number is temporarily out of service in the south Tyrone & Fermanagh areas.

The number is still available on mobile phones, but cannot be reached on land-lines.

Police say the disruption is due to a technical fault and have advised anyone wishing to contact any of the emergency services to use 0845 600 8000.

Coleraine And Ballymena Drug Seizures

A discovery by police of cocaine, ecstasy and amphetamines during searches in Coleraine and Ballymena on Friday has resulted in two men appearing in court.

The men, aged 26 and 38, face a range of charges including having class A and B drugs with intent to supply and will appear at North Antrim Magistrates Court in Coleraine today.

Police also seized five vehicles, which are believed to have been used in the course of committing serious crime.

Woman Arrested After North Belfast Stabbing

A 22-year-old woman is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder, following the stabbing of a 22-year-old man in north Belfast.

The man was seriously injured and is currently being treated in hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident occurred at Havana Court in the Ardoyne are of the city and was reported to the PSNI at about 09:00 on Sunday.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Ballynahinch Man Dies Following Attack

A 47 year-old man has died from injuries sustained during an attack early on Sunday morning.

David Mills, from Dundrum in County Down, sustained serious head injuries after he was attacked on Dromore Street in Ballynahinch at 00:45 on Sunday morning.

Mr Mills later died in hospital from his injuries.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned in relation to the incident.

Police have begun a murder inquiry and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who might have any information, to contact them.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
