Olhausen Closes Three Dublin Plants

Fine Gael TD for Dublin Bay North, Terence Flanagan, has expressed his regret on hearing of the news of the closure of Olhausen, with the closure of three plants in Dublin.

He said: "My thoughts are with the 160 workers at Olhausen who were informed that the company has ceased trading.

"Olhausen has been trading since 1896 and it has developed over the years into one of Ireland's leading suppliers of quality pork-based meats. The company employed a number of local people in its production facility in Coolock and I am very sorry to hear that the company had gone into receivership.

"A receiver has been appointed to the company and I understand that discussions are continuing over the payment of outstanding wages due to all workers and regarding redundancy terms. Enterprise Ireland will continue to work closely with the receiver to see how best to support a rescue plan.

"Olhausen is a much-respected company with an excellent brand and it has built up a loyal customer base over the years. It has steadily become a key supplier to major organisations in the Irish retail and foodservice sectors and I am confident that this will be of interest to other parties."
