Extended Opening Hours For The Careers Resource Centre

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry has today launched additional opening hours each Thursday evening for the Careers Resource Centre, Ann Street, Belfast.

Announcing that the Resource Centre will remain open until 8:30pm each Thursday evening, the Minister said: "Careers guidance is often viewed as relevant only to young people. However it is equally valuable to everyone, including those in work, who are considering further education or training or a change in career direction. In order to cope with the future needs of the economy, we must ensure that effective careers services are accessible to everybody. By extending our opening hours, careers services will be more accessible to those clients who would otherwise have difficultly attending the office during the normal working week."

The Careers Service provides free careers information, advice and guidance to clients of all ages and abilities, whether employed or unemployed. In July, the Minister launched a pilot scheme at the Careers Resource Centre to provide an additional ‘drop in’ service between 10am and 2pm each Saturday. This was to enable those currently in work to avail of careers services outside their normal working hours. In addition to this, the Centre will be open on Thursday evenings until 8:30pm, commencing 25 October 2012. Appointments are not required.
