Man Arrested Over Simon Tang Murder

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Simon Tang in Carrickfergus in 1996.

The 45-year-old man was arrested in north Belfast this morning as part of the renewed investigation.

Mr Tang was 28 years old when he died after being attacked and robbed outside his takeaway business in June 1996.

In the past few months five people, three men and two women, have been charged with offences linked to the murder.

Bangor Man Attacked With Sticks

A 24-year-old man has been attacked by a gang who used bats and sticks in Bangor, County Down.

The man has been taken to hospital following the assault, which saw a number of masked men force their way into his home in Clandeboye Way at about 22:30 yesterday evening.

It is thought the gang headed in the direction of Kilcooley estate following the attack.

The man is reported to be suffering a fractured arm.

Police say a motive has yet to be established.

Teenagers Charged Over Firework Offences

Two teenagers have been charged with offences including throwing a firework at a house in County L’Derry.

The incident occurred in Drumachose Park in Limavady on Sunday evening.

An 18-year-old man is charged with making threats to kill and intimidation.

A 16-year-old boy is charged with throwing a firework, intimidation and attempted criminal damage.

The two will appear in court next month.

Teenagers Charged Over Riots

Two teenagers have been charged following riots in north Belfast last month.

A 17-year-old man has been charged with rioting and possessing a petrol bomb.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with rioting along with possessing an offensive weapon and attempted criminal damage.

The two boys will appear at Belfast Youth Court next month.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. The victim, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition after being assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. The suspect is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday, 17 October.

Man Arrested Over George Gilmore Murder
Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the murder of loyalist George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. A 32-year-old man arrested on Sunday, 19 March, has been released.

Seven Charged With Strickland Murder
A fourth man has been charged with the murder of Phillip Strickland in Comber last week, bringing the total to seven. The 36-year-old was found in a car on Quarry Road, off the Ballydrain Road, near Comber on Wednesday last. He had been shot several times and was declared dead in hospital a short time later.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.

Accused man claimed he 'did not mean to kill wife'
A civilian PSNI employee has appeared before Ballymena Magistrates Court in Co Antrim today accused of murdering his wife. The court heard that when charged yesterday 46-year-old Adrian Baird of Loughloughlan Road in Broughshane said that he "did not mean to kill his wife".
