Anti-Bullying Weeks Begins

More than 650 schools and youth groups in Northern Ireland will take part in anti-bullying week starting on Monday.

The initiative, which runs until Friday, will operate under the banner 'Everybody is Somebody'.

It is co-ordinated by the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum (NIABF).

Children will participate in poster displays, themed assembly presentations and lessons around the subject.

Lee Kane, NIABF's regional anti-bullying co-ordinator, said it was important to emphasise bullying was unacceptable, by challenging negative stereotypes.

"No matter how it happens, or why it happens, all bullying is wrong, and we have a duty to challenge it," he said.

Borken Power Lines Caused Explosions

The police have said that broken power lines caused three small explosions in Antrim on Sunday.

Rain hitting the live wires caused the bangs, which were initially thought to have been caused by a gas leak.

High Street and Church Street in the town were closed.

There were no reports of any injuries. Commercial premises in the area were evacuated but no residential premises were affected.

Suspicious Object Reported In Dungannon

Police have received reports of a suspicious object in the Newell Road area of Dungannon, County Tyrone.

They said checks had been carried out on Sunday and "nothing untoward" was found.

However, police said that if anyone notices any suspicious object they should "leave it alone" and not touch it.

They said it should be reported "as soon as possible".
