Police Appeal Over Bookies Robbery
Police are appealing for information following the attempted robbery of a bookmakers in west Belfast.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when a man entered the property on the Falls Road at about 21:30 with what is thought to have been a firearm and demanded money.
The would-be robber then left empty-handed after his demands were refused.
He was described as being approximately 5ft 9in tall, wearing a hooded top and blue jeans with a scarf covering his face.
Arson-Threat Man Refused Bail
A Portrush man has been refused bail after threatening to burn his partner's house down while she and their two children were inside.
21-year-old Paul Thompson from Ballywillan Crescent denies the charges of common assault, making a threat to kill, criminal damage, possessing a weapon and threatening to destroy property to endanger life.
The man was arrested in Coleraine at his girlfriend’s home on 27 December.
The court was told police found a samurai sword in his bag.
Drunk Man Pets Stolen CCTV Camera
Londonderry Magistrates Court has been told how a man was seen petting a CCTV camera after stealing it from a house while drunk.
24-year-old Peter Morrison from Heron Way in L’Derry was found guilty of ripping the camera off a wall at Adelaide Avenue.
Mr Morrison was initially seen stealing the camera on the house owner’s monitor.
The man then drove after Morrison and caught up with him outside a local supermarket.
He was seen petting the camera on the ground. The man called the police and Morrison was arrested.
The incident occurred in April 2011.
Morrison was fined £180 and ordered to pay compensation of £120.
Search For Missing Man Continues
The search for a missing 78-year-old man is continuing, as police and the man’s family appeal for information.
Harry Warwick was last seen on Wednesday 19 December 2012 on the Upper Crumlin Road, Belfast.
He is described as being 5ft 6in - 5ft 8in tall, of slight build. He was wearing a dark green waxed jacket, green trousers and brown shoes.
Anyone who has any information is asked to call police on the Antrim Road on 0845 600 8000.
Police in north Belfast have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries, while teams of searchers have been looking in country parks and quarries.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.
