Man Charged Over Sexual Assault

A 47-year-old man has been charged in relation to incidents of sexual abuse which occurred two and a half years ago.

The incidents occurred in Castlereagh and include rape, sexual assault and false imprisonment.

The attack is reported to have happened on 22 August 2010.

The accused will appear in court in Newtownards on 12 February.

Man Bailed Following Dissident Republican Arrest

A man arrested in L’Derry as part of ongoing investigations into dissident republican activity has now been released without charge.

The man, 50, was arrested on Tuesday by Serious Crime Branch detectives and was taken to Antrim police station.

The investigations included the searching of a house in Circular Road in the city.

£1m NI Lotto Ticket Yet To Be Claimed

A winning Euromilions lottery ticket which was bought in Northern Ireland has yet to be claimed.

The owner of the winning numbers has just days to claim their £1m prize.

The ticket was bought in the Fermanagh & South Tyrone area on Friday, 3 August, 2012.

The winning ticket matched the combination in the Millionaire Raffle.

The National Lottery says it has attempted to locate the £1m raffle winner, but has been unsuccessful.

If the money is not claimed by Wednesday, 30 January, it will go to charity.

Man Due In Court Over Child Sex Abuse

A 56-year-old man is due to appear at Londonderry Crown Court over child sex abuse offences which occurred 40 years ago.

The defendant has pleaded not guilty to seven charges of indecent assault against a young girl between January 1975 and December 1981.

The man, due in court next month, has not been named to protect the identity of the alleged victim.

The defendant has been released on bail.

The trial will begin on 25 February.

Suspended Prison Term For Fraudster
Nine people were convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Magistrates' court this week for claiming benefits they were not entitled to - with one handed a jail term. Colin McGookin (52) of Sheringhurst Park, Belfast claimed Income Support, Incapacity Benefit and Disability Living Allowance totalling £25,168 while failing to declare employment.

Benefit Frauds Face Court Sanctions
Fraudsters are being made to pay the price for claiming a variety of benefits they were not entitled to. A total of 14 people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates' court yesterday with Joanne McBride (35) of Portallo Street, Belfast claiming Income Support totalling £4,451 while failing to declare she was working.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
