Millions To Be Diverted Into Education

Millions of pounds are to be diverted over the next two years to help schools and education services with financial problems, education minister John O’Dowd has said.

The money, £41min the next financial year and £48 in the next, is being diverted from a fund set aside for teacher and other staff redundancy payments.

Mr O’Dowd said as a significant number of staff have already taken redundancy, he is now diverting tens of millions he had set aside to help pay for education and youth services instead.
