Stanley McAuley Murder - Man Charged

A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Stanley McAuley, who died after being found in an alleyway in Chamberlain Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

41-year-old Mr McAuley was discovered by police at about 01:00 following reports of serious assault.

He was unconscious when police found him, and he was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital. Mr McAuley later died from his injuries.

The man is expected to appear in court in Belfast on Wednesday.

A 20-year-old woman also arrested in connection to the murder remains in custody.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the Newtownards Road/Chamberlain Street area between 01:00 and 01:30 and who may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact them at Musgrave on 0845 600 8000.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Election Canvassers Attacked In Derry
A team of canvassers has been attacked in Londonderry. The group, which included a number of candidates from the People Before Profit Alliance Party, was in Nelson Drive in the Waterside area when they were approached by a group of men aged between 25-30. One of the canvassers had to receive hospital treatment following the attack.

Man Charged Over Murder Of Paul McAuley
A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Paul McCauley. Mr McAuley died in a care facility in June last year, almost nine years after he was attacked in L'Derry. The suspect has been charged with grievous bodily harm and attempted grievous bodily harm. He is to appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court later today, 07 April.

Man Jailed For 2021 Murder Of Nigel Orr-McAuley
A 38-year-old man has been been sentenced to a minimum of 11 and a half years in prison for the murder of Nigel Orr-McAuley. Mr Orr-McAuley, who was aged 53, was found dead in his home in Bangor in July 2021. He was found in his bedroom in a house that he shared with the defendant and others.
