Man Arrested In Connection With Dissident Republican Terrorist Activity

A man has been arrested in England as part of a police investigation into dissident republican terrorist activity.

The man, 50, and originally from Lurgan, was detained in Lancashire on Tuesday morning.

The PSNI said the arrest is in connection with terrorist activity a number of years ago.

The man is to be brought back to Northern Ireland for questioning where he will be interviewed at Antrim police station.

The 33 year-old suspect was detained following a search in west Belfast on Tuesday evening, 10 March, during which a quantity of class B and C drugs were seized. Two people perish in Derry house fire
Two people, both reported to be in their 40s, have died in a house fire in Londonderry in the early hours of Friday morning. The bodies were discovered in the hallway near to the front door of a house at Cashelhill Park in the Shantallow area at around 3.30am this morning.

Three Men Arrested Over Dissident Terrorist Activity
Three men have been arrested in Lurgan over dissident terrorist activity. The men are aged 47, 42 and 41. Police are conducting searches on three houses in the area and a number of items have been taken for forensic examination.

Man Arrested Over Dissident Activity Released Unconditionally
A man who was arrested in L'Derry by police investigating violent dissident terrorist criminality has been released. The 20-year-old was arrested on Tuesday. He was taken to Antrim police station for questioning. The man was released unconditionally on Tuesday evening.

Republican candidate arrested over 'serious terrorist crime'
An Independent Republican candidate was arrested yesterday over “serious terrorist crime”. Gerry McGeough, 46, was arrested after leaving the count centre at Omagh leisure centre. The candidate in Fermanagh and South Tyrone is being questioned over the murder of a UDR member in 1981.
