Garda Donohoe Murder Inquiry Continues

PSNI Serious Crime Branch officers assisting with the investigation into the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe in January are continuing with their inquiries into the shooting.

Gardai are investigating the murder of D/Garda Donohoe, which occurred on Friday 25 January at Bellurgan, near Dundalk.

A number of searches are being carried out this week in the Carlingford area. These searches are currently ongoing and follow investigations conducted by the PSNI earlier this month in south Armagh.

Police believe that after the shooting, which took place outside a credit union at Bellurgan, the gang travelled in a dark blue Volkswagen Passat car across the border to Fews Forest outside Newtownhamilton in Co Armagh, where it was abandoned and set on fire.

PSNI detectives have repeated the Garda appeal for members of the public to come forward with any information they may have in relation to the murder, as the investigation is active and ongoing.

A number of rewards for information remain in place.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact detectives in the PSNI on 0845 600 8000 or detectives in An Garda Siochana on 042 9388470.

The independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 and the Garda Confidential Number can be reached on 1800 666 111.
