Two Injured In Beach Hit-And-Run

Two people have been taken to hospital after they were struck by a car in an alleged hit-and-run incident in Co Londonderry.

The woman and a young girl, believed to be her daughter, were hit by the car on Benone beach shortly before 1pm on Sunday (21 July).

They were reportedly struck by a red BMW and were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said they later found the car at Baranailt Road in Limavady.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested.

The mayor of Limavady, Gerry Mullan, has said it was a "very unfortunate incident".
