Two Women Seriously Injured In Killyleagh Hit-And-Run

Two women, aged in their 50s, are being treated in hospital for serious injuries after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident in Killyleagh, County Down.

The incident occurred at around 8.30am on Sunday 14 August on the Crossgar Road. The women, who were out walking at the time were struck by a small black car.

The women's injuries are aid to be serious but not life-threatening.

A 21-year-old man was arrested a short time later in connection with the incident. He has been charged causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

The man has been ordered to appear before Downpatrick Magistrates' Court on 8 September.

NI Man Jailed For Use Of Criminal Encrypted Communication Channel
A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to a total of 12 years for offences linked to EncroChat – an encrypted communication channel used by criminals. Michael O'Loughlin was arrested in 2020 following the search of a property as part of Operation Venetic, a UK wide operation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) designed to "dismantle EncroChat".

Second Man Extradited From Poland To Northern Ireland
A second man has been extradited from Poland to Northern Ireland this week to face charges related to the cultivation of cannabis. The 40 year-old-man was extradited from Poland on Thursday 11th April, to stand trial in relation to a number of offences of cultivation of cannabis.
