£175,000 Roads Scheme For Bready

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy has said a major resurfacing scheme worth £175,000 is scheduled to begin on the A5 Victoria Road in Bready.

The work will commence on Monday 23 September.

Improvements on Victoria Road – the main road between Strabane and Londonderry – will take place between its junction at Donagheady Road and extend for a distance of around 780 meters northward, along the A5 Victoria Road to the northern boundary of Bready Village.

Due to the restricted carriageway width available on Victoria Road, and to help minimise any potential conflict between the site works and through traffic, it will be necessary to close the section of the road on two separate weekends. Closures are planned for Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September, as well as on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October.

The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on 7 October 2013.

Southbound traffic will be diverted via Donemana, and northbound traffic will be diverted via Lifford in County Donegal. Local access will be retained.

Minister Kennedy said the scheme would strengthen and improve the quality of the carriageway on an important section of trunk road between Strabane and Londonderry.
