Teens Arrested Over Lead Theft

Two teenagers have been arrested by police over lead theft in east Belfast.

The arrests came about due to a member of the public who stopped police officers in the Holywood Road area of Belfast on Monday to report a suspected theft.

Officers arrested two teenage boys at the scene. One of them has been charged with burglary and released on bail.

The second was charged with going equipped for theft, obstructing police and burglary.

Illegal Car Park Operators Released

Three men arrested on suspicion of operating an illegal car park in south Belfast have been released on police bail.

The men had been operating the car park in the Markets area and had been displaying an NCP sign, despite it not being run by National Car Parks.

The suspects, aged 29, 30 and 51, were detained in the Markets area on Thursday morning.

Father And Son Handed Order For Illegal Tachograph Centre

A Craigavon father and son have been given confiscation order of £123,259 for operating an illegal tachograph, or speedometer, centre.

Mr Raymond Pedlow and his son Mr Barry Pedlow, operating as Pedlow Tachograph Centre, were made the subject of a Confiscation Order of £123,259 at Craigavon Crown Court yesterday.

The Order was taken as a result of a joint investigation by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA).

The joint investigation related to the operation of Pedlow Tachograph Centre, 66-72 Annsborough Road, Lurgan.

On 19 November 2013, in Craigavon Crown Court, Mr Raymond Pedlow was sentenced to two years six months, suspended for three years, for illegally operating the tachograph centre.

On the same date, Mr Barry Pedlow was sentenced to an immediate custodial sentence consisting of two years six months, one year three months in custody and one year three months on licence, for installing or calibrating the equipment.

Eight Arrested Over Drugs In L'Derry

Eight people have been arrested in a police crackdown on illegal drugs in L'Derry.

About 70 officers carried out 19 searches throughout the city on Tuesday, including in the Creggan, Strathfoyle and Galliagh areas.

Five seizures of herbal cannabis, one of cannabis resin and seven of suspected methadrone were reported.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Charged In Possession Of Heroin
A man is to appear in court charged in possession of heroin. Police arrested five people during searches of a property in Newry on Wednesday, 16 January. Two men have also been charged in possession of a Class A drug. A 50-year-old woman has also been charged with permitting premises to be used for the supply of a Class A drug.

Two Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Kidnapping
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of kidnapping. The males, aged 33 and 31, were detained in Co L'Derry. It is believed there arrests are in connection with an incident in the city on Thursday, 26 October. No further details have been released.

Teenager Arrested After Murder In County Down
Police are treating the death of a man following an assault in County Down over the weekend as murder. The 32-year-old was attacked in Portaferry, shortly after midnight on Sunday. It is believed the victim was from Killyleagh. A 19-year-old has been arrested and taken to Musgrave police station in Belfast for questioning on suspicion of murder.
