Second Phase Of Lurgan Improvement Scheme Begins

The Roads Service £120,000 improvement scheme being delivered in conjunction with the Lurgan Environmental scheme at Edward Street in the town is set to move into its second phase.

The resurfacing of Edward Street is being carried out in two phases with most elements of the work scheduled to be carried out at weekends.

The first stage of the resurfacing from Millenium Way to Sloan Street is expected to be complete by Monday 17 February.

Work on the second stage of the scheme, from Sloan Street to its junction with the Old Portadown Road will mainly take place at weekends and will involve road closures between Hill Street and Old Portadown Road from 6:00 pm on Saturday 22 February until 6:00 am on Monday 24 February and from 6:00 am on Sunday 2 March until 6:00 am on Monday 3 March.

Belfast Road Improvement Scheme Confirmed
A road improvement scheme for Waterloo Park North and South in Belfast is set to begin on Monday, 22 May. The £166,000 scheme will include resurfacing of the carriageways and reconstruction of footways. Work will be carried out from Monday to Friday between 09.30am and 4.30pm.

A5 Development Scheme Must Progress Immediately- SDLP
An SDLP MLA has called for the A5 development scheme to progress immediately, following the Department of Infrastructure's (DOI) confirmation that it will commence in late 2019. The first phase of the project will see a 15km stretch of road upgraded to a dual carriageway between New Buildings on the outskirts of L'Derry, and Strabane.

All Roads Affected By Storm Ophelia Reopened
All roads in Northern Ireland affected by Storm Ophelia have been reopened. Over 300 Department for Infrastructure staff and contractors removed trees and debris from around 200 affected roads across the region. Gullies and grilles will continue to be checked and cleared of leaf fall over the next few days.

Serious Concerns Raised Over Roads Maintenance Budget
The SDLP and Alliance have expressed serious concerns after it was revealed that the NI Roads Maintenance budget for this year is to run out next month. SDLP Infrastructure Spokesperson and West Tyrone MLA Daniel McCrossan has called on political parties to forge an agreement.
