Ballykelly Alert An 'Elaborate Hoax'

Police have described a security alert in Ballykelly, Co Londonderry, as an "elaborate hoax".

On Thursday evening, army bomb experts were called to the Carnamuff Road following reports of suspicious objects in the area.

A number of houses in the area were evacuated during the alert.

Two objects have since been removed from the scene for further forensic examination, while police have said their investigations are continuing.

A man shot in the abdomen in a Banbridge car park on Friday, 12 April, remains in a critical condition in hospital. The man, aged in his 40s, was shot as he sat in a car by a masked man. Ballyclare Bomb Alert Declared A Hoax
Danny Kinahan, Ulster Unionist MLA for South Antrim, has condemned those responsible for a bomb alert near Ballyclare Police Station this morning. Local people had to be evacuated from their homes and children making their way to school were also put at risk.

'Small Bomb' Found During Security Alert
Army bomb experts have been called to examine an explosive device found at an apartment block in east Belfast. Police said that a number of residents were evacuated from the apartments in the Short Strand Road area at about 20:00 on Tuesday night. They described the device as a "small bomb". No further details have been released.

Hoax Objects Found In Carrickfergus Alert
Two suspicious objects found during a security alert in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, have been declared elaborate hoaxes according to police. The security alert began on Sunday afternoon in the Broadlands Gardens area of the town, when several homes were evacuated.
